Chairman's Updates

Welcome everyone to UNEXPO 2021. It is a pleasure to once again unite with the American Philatelic Society (APS), here in beautiful Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, to host this unique World Series of Philately exhibition dedi-cated to United Nations and UN-related philatelic Material. This special issue of the UNPI Journal, serves as the official exhibition program and contains a great some very informative articles on several UN philatelic subjects.

We are in fact returning to Bellefonte for a second time given the resounding success of our first special exhibition in 2017. As we know all to painfully well, much has transpired over those four years that have challenged our ability to gather together to enjoy our hobby and friendships that make philately such a unique and rewarding pas-time. But we are here, and look forward to another wonderful exhibition.

Over the next couple of days, you will have an opportunity to view some of the finest UN and UN-related exhibits created by club members and others. In addition, we have a wonderful schedule of interesting and informative presentations on UN-related philatelic subjects that should keep us well-entertained and add to our collective knowledge of UN philately. Additionally, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) has graciously ar-ranged for a special first day of issue of a set of beautiful sheetlets on the subject of "Celebrations," and what could possibly be a finer subject to coincide with our philatelic celebration here in Bellefonte. We also have the unique pleasure of welcoming several fine dealers and the UNPA to the bourse. For UNEXPO 2021 we have arranged for auction house H.R. Harmer, NYC, to conducting a live auction of specialized UN and UN-related material here at the exhibition on Saturday afternoon!

Finally, I would like to personally extend my sincerest gratitude to the APS leadership and staff, as well as, the UNPA, and all of the UNPI volunteers that have embraced roles of leadership in every aspects of this exhibition. Without their collective efforts, this exhibition would not have been possible. Their knowledge, support, tenacity, hard work, and above all, enthusiasm, have made this exhibition possible.

So please enjoy the show, tour the beautiful American Philatelic Center, and search for those exciting items for your collections at the dealer booths here at the exhibition. View the exhibits and listen to the presentations, and be sure to make new friends while you are here. We are grateful for this opportunity, and grateful that you are here to join us for this uniquely wonderful philatelic event.

    Best wishes and happy collecting!
